grandmother block

In Progress
Made for a block in time

30 years ago when I was attempting to hand sew my daughters some sunbonnet sue blocks, my grandmother sent me a quilt block, some cardboard templates and a letter. Her eyesight was failing, and she was no longer quilting and thought I might like these items. I kept them in a bag and once I was quilting, I once again found this long ago gift. I was not too sure what to do with the block, it was too big to place in the squares I was making. However, inspiration struck and I cut the block into four pieces, and a piece of the block was placed into each of my girl's quilts I was making. The cut size fit perfectly into both quilts and now each daughter has a piece of their great grandmother's block.
